Balayage Deep Dive

Balayage is freehand. The colorist paints lightener onto the hair with a brush instead of foiling sections. Done well, it produces soft, sun-kissed dimension that grows out without a harsh line. Done poorly, it ends up patchy, too warm, or so subtle you can't see it after one wash.

We start with a 10-minute consultation in front of the mirror. We talk about your natural depth, how often you can come in, what your hair does when it's wet versus dry, and what tones look good against your skin. Then we map placement before any product touches your head. The mapping step is the part most salons skip. It's why our balayage looks intentional instead of random.

For Stuart clients with previously highlighted hair, we often combine babylights at the root with painted balayage through the mid-lengths and ends. That blends old color into new and avoids the racing-stripe effect that happens when balayage is layered on top of an existing highlight pattern. Balayage pricing depends on the stylist tier and your hair length and density. Senior Stylist starts at a lower price point than Master Stylist or Artistic Director. Getting Here from Stuart

From downtown Stuart, take US-1 South across the Roosevelt Bridge and continue through Port Salerno and Hobe Sound. Total drive is about 20 minutes door to door if traffic is light, 25 if you hit lunch hour. We're on the east side of US-1 at the Tequesta Drive intersection. How long does balayage last?

Most Stuart clients come in every 12 to 14 weeks for a balayage refresh, with a glaze appointment in between to refresh tone. Lifestyle matters. Heavy beach days and pool time pull the appointment cycle shorter.

Will balayage work on my dark hair?

Yes. Dark hair takes more time to lift cleanly, so the appointment runs longer and may require multiple sessions if you want significant lightness. We'll set realistic expectations at the consult.

Should I wash my hair before my balayage appointment?

Day-old hair is ideal. Not freshly washed, not three days dirty. Skip oils and heavy product the day of.
